I have frequently been critical of the Federal Labor Party. I have continually argued for policy renewal and democratization. I alongside many others have pointed out that the Liberal Party has put up superior candidates in key seats in traditional Labor areas because of Labor’s factional system. I have argued, alongside many others, that, until recently, Howard and Abbott got the practicality of Aboriginal welfare reform better than Federal Labor did. I have criticized the Beattie and post-Carr government candidly and fully and I stand by those criticisms.
However for the first time since 1996 I believe the Australian Labor Party will win the next Federal election. The articles and arguments that follow do not arise from blind loyalty or uncritical support for Labor. These articles are for every person who thinks critically about Australian politics, sees that the best interests of the nation lies in a competitive national political contest and wants to develop a critical understanding of our alternative incoming government, the background of its powerbrokers and what it will offer Australia.
